Project Description
Financial markets law today is largely shaped by international standards and European legal requirements. In this course, all students will gain fundamental knowledge of the internationally relevant rules governing financial markets. Furthermore, each student will have the opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge in a specific area of financial mar-kets law. The subjects to choose from include current topics such as payment digitalisation and the regulation of stable-coins.

Learning Results
After completing the course, each student will have fundamental knowledge of important areas of financial markets law and more detailed knowledge in one specific area. The knowledge acquired will enable students to understand the implications of financial markets regulation on various business models.

- understand financial markets supervision
- understand the goals and guiding principles of various areas of financial markets law
- understand and analyse the implications of regulation on various business models
- work with different types of standards and legal documents (e.g. Basel standards, EEA regulations and direc-tives and ESA guidelines)
- discuss financial markets regulations based on the underlying principles
- present complex subjects in a manner tailored to the target audience
- discuss topics presented by fellow students and ask critical questions
- develop and enhance presentation skills

Assessment Methods
60% presentation, 20% discussion and participation; 20% short MC-tests; At-tendance is mandatory (80%)
