Polar Extremes in Value Chain Integration vs. Value Chain Co-Creation - Insights from Tesla and Porsche

This power talk will unveil novel pros and cons of vertical integration versus horizontal co-creation. Based on in-depth work on electrification innovation with Porsche and Tesla we will learn why and how these polar extremes work for the two companies.

Tesla is the most vertically integrated company in the world of automotive - keeping more than 80% of the entire value chain in house and driving all innovation exclusively based on internal brainpower.

Porsche is the polar opposite case, owning less than 20% of the value chain, but constantly identifying and including new external partners for co-creation of innovation in electrification.

So what is best for them and what is best for you?

Porsche certainly is outselling Tesla if you compare taycan sales with the combined sales of Models S and X. Porsche's stock has grown with more than 30% in the same time frame as Tesla lost 30%.

The event and the reception afterward are free.
