Modul 5 bringt vertiefte Kenntnisse im liechtensteinischen und europäischen Investmentfondsrecht, insbesondere mit Blick auf die UCITS- und die AIFM-Regulierung. Fragen der Fondsstrukturierung und -besteuerung werden ebenso behandelt wie die Regulierung von Hedgefonds und Prime Brokern sowie Verwahrstellen.
Das Modul behandelt das Recht der kollektiven Kapitalanlage. Die Studierenden lernen zentrale fondsrechtliche Regelungen kennen, wobei das UCITSG und das AIFMG im Mittelpunkt stehen. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Zu-lassung von (Alternativen) Fondsverwaltern sowie den zentralen Verhaltenspflichten bei der Kapitalanlage gemäss UCITSG und AIFMG. Behandelt werden auch europäische Sonderregime für Geldmarktfonds, Europäische Risiko-kapitalfonds (EuVECA), Europäische Fonds für soziales Unternehmertum (EuSEF) und Europäische langfristige In-vestmentfonds (ELTIF) sowie liechtensteinische Vehikel (IUG). Ein weiterer Bestandteil des Moduls ist die Regulie-rung von Pensionsfonds gemäß dem Pensionsfondsgesetz auf Basis der europäischen Grundlage (IORPD II).
Im Rahmen der Fondsstrukturierung werden die zulässigen Rechtsformen (Vertragsform, Kollektivtreuhänder-schaft und Anlagegesellschaft) und die Regulierung und Haftung von Verwahrstellen erörtert. Abgerundet wird das Modul durch die steuerrechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen bei der Fondsstrukturierung und -verwaltung.

Nach Absolvierung des Moduls kennen die Studierenden die verschiedenen Arten von Investmentfonds und deren rechtliche Grundlagen. Sie sind mit den relevanten Vorschriften für die Geschäftstätigkeit von Verwaltungsgesell-schaften sowie Verwahrstellen vertraut und können Fragen zur Zulassung, Verwaltung und Verwahrung von Fonds beantworten. Darüber hinaus verfügen die Studierenden über spezielle Kenntnisse im Zusammenhang mit EuVECA, EuSEF, ELTIF und Pensionsfonds und können diese im beruflichen Alltag nutzen. Die Studierenden können rele-vante steuerrechtliche Fragestellungen zu Fonds beantworten.

Die Literatur wird im Rahmen der Lehrveranstaltung und in den Modulplänen bekannt gegeben.

Alternativ können die Studierenden bei 2 der 3 Wahlmodule ein frei wählbares Modul der anderen Executive Masterstudiengänge («Executive Master of Laws in International Taxation», «Executive Master of Laws im Gesell-schafts-, Stiftungs- und Trustrecht» oder «Executive Master of Laws im Wirtschaftsstrafrecht») belegen.

Modul 4 behandelt das liechtensteinische und europaische Kapitalmarktrecht, vom Primar- und Sekundarmarkt-recht uber marktinfrastrukturrechtliche Vorgaben bis zu den vielfaltigen Organisations- und Wohlverhaltenspflich-ten in der Vermogensverwaltung und im Wertpapiervertrieb (MiFiD).
Auf Ebene des Primarmarkts wird vor allem die ProspektVO und die national umgesetzte Prospekthaftung behan-delt. Erganzt werden diese Ausfuhrungen durch die Vorgaben fur Handelsplatze (sowohl geregelte Markte als auch multilaterale und organsierte Handelssysteme) in der MiFID und die liechtensteinischen Umsetzungsbestimmun-gen. Ein weiterer Fokus liegt auf den durch die MiFID II neu eingefuhrten Datenbereitstellungsdiensten. Zudem werden spezifische Transparenz] und Meldepflichten beim Derivatehandel nach der MiFIR naher diskutiert.
Ein Schwerpunkt im Sekundarmarktrecht betrifft die MarktmissbrauchsVO (MAR) und damit Themen wie Insider-handel, Marktmanipulation und die Ad-hoc-Publizitatspflicht. Es werden auch die speziellen Vorgaben fur Leerver-kaufe nach der Short Selling Verordnung bearbeitet. Darauf folgt eine Auseinandersetzung mit den Vorgaben der EU-Verordnung uber OTC-Derivate, zentrale Gegenparteien und Transaktionsregister (EMIR) sowie mit dem Clea-ring von Derivatkontrakten. Schliesslich wird noch der rechtliche Rahmen fur die Depotverwahrung und das Sett-lement nach der Zentralverwahrerverordnung (CSDR) vorgestellt.
Im Mittelpunkt stehen weiters die Pflichten bei der Erbringung von Wertpapierdienstleistungen und Anlagetatig-keiten nach der MiFID bzw. den liechtensteinischen Umsetzungsbestimmungen. Neben den Organisationsanfor-derungen werden dabei insbesondere die Wohlverhaltenspflichten bei der Erbringung von Wertpapierdienstleis-tungen bzw. bei der Vermogensverwaltung thematisiert und dabei auch aktuelle Entwicklungen wie etwa im Be-reich der Nachhaltigkeit berucksichtigt.

Die Studierenden verfügen über detaillierte Kenntnisse der europäischen Finanzmarktregulierung im Bereich des Primär- und Sekundärmarktes, insbesondere der ProspektVO, MAR und MiFID II. Sie können Fallgestaltungen an-hand dieser Rechtsakte beurteilen und einordnen, z.B. im Bereich der Prospekthaftung, des Marktmissbrauchs und der Anlage- und Vermögensberatung.

Dieses Modul basiert sehr stark auf erfahrungsbasiertem Lernen. Es setzt bei den Studierenden eine hohe intrinsische Motivation und die Bereitschaft sich mit sich selbst und den anderen Modulteilnehmenden aktiv auseinander zu setzten und auch regelmässig sich in Mindfulness zu üben voraus. Dieses Modul kann unabhängig der eigenen Weltanschaudung besucht werden. Wichtiger Bestandteil der Unterrichtseinheiten werden unterschiedliche Mindfulness-Praktiken sein wie Sitz- (z.B. Gegenstandslose Meditation, Open Monitoring, diverse Atemübungen, Compassion Meditation, Body Scan) und Bewegungsmeditationsformen (z.B. Yoga). Aber auch innovative Ansätze aus dem Improvisationstheater, Coaching und Leadership kommen zur Anwendung. "Mindfulness is a skill", welches somit erlernbar ist und mit Hilfe von regelmässiger Übung wie ein Muskel im Rahmen eines Krafttrainings gestärkt wird.

Das Interesse an und die Bedeutung von Mindfulness hat seit rund 10 Jahren sowohl in der breiten Öffentlichkeit als auch in der Wissenschaftscommunity massiv zugenommen. Dies zeigt sich z.B. dadurch, dass mittlerweile mehr als 10'000 wissenschaftliche Journal Artikel in den einschlägigen Datenbanken zu finden sind. Zahlreiche Forschungsergebnisse belegen die positiven Auswirkungen der Mindfulness-Praxis wie:
- Die Konzentrations- und Lernfähigkeit wird verbessert
- Bewussterer und konstruktiverer Umgang mit Stress wird gefördert
- Kreativität und Innovationskraft wird gestärkt
- Empathiefähigkeit nimmt zu und Entwicklung von emotionaler Intelligenz wird unterstützt
- Psychische und physische Widerstandskraft wird gestärkt (Resilienz, Immunsystem)
- Neuroplastizität: Mindfulness ist eine Fähigkeit, die dank Übung trainiert werden kann und dadurch verändert sich auch nachweislich die Gehirnstruktur (vgl. Neurowissenschaften)

Ausserdem gibt es immer mehr Unternehmen, die Mindfulness als einen wesentlichen Bestandteil in ihren Entwicklungsprogrammen für Führungskräfte integriert haben. Darunter sind nicht nur technologieaffine Unternehmen wie Google, SAP, Facebook, Intel oder LinkedIn, sondern auch traditionellere Organisationen wie Deutsche Post, Credit Suisse, Caritas, Daimler, Bosch, Axpo, Hilti oder Ikea. Aber auch an immer mehr Universitäten (z.B. University of Oxford, Harvard Law School, London School of Economics oder Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München) ist Mindfulness Teil des Angebots. Inhaltich orientiert sich dieses Wahlpflichtmodul an folgenden etablierten Mindfulness-Ansätzen: MBSR (Mind-fulness Based Stress Reduction; Prof. Jon-Kabat Zinn), MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy; Prof. Zindel Segal, Prof. John Teasdale, Prof. Mark Williams), SAM (Salzburger Achtsamkeitsmodell; Mindful Leader) und SIY (Search Inside Yourself; das wohl weitverbreitetste Corporate Mindfulness Leadership Programm mit mehr als 50'000 Absolventen, das 2007 von Chad-Meng Tan bei Google entwickelt wurde).

Urbanism, Architecture & Society Unit (UASU) is happy to support independent study projects utilizing our methods and approaches, either (1) pursuing questions relevant to our group, or (2) supporting you in finding your own research questions. We can provide topics for independent study related to our research areas in the Alpine Rhine Valley, as well as various locations across the Global South.
We also encourage aligning independent study projects with our other concurrent courses including: Raum & Gesellschaft, Studio Jozi, Urban Theory, Planning & Places, Architectural Theory, or Pro Bono.

ML DevOps and Advanced ML Topics contains two parts. The first is about machine learning development operations. It coverskey aspects of how to turn a business problem into a machine learning product. It starts from requirements engineering, onto building prototypes onto deployment and maintenance. The second part covers several advanced topics in the field of machine learning. Students learn about contemporary ML topics and in particular, how to analyse large amounts of data. In more detail, the topics covered are:

• Requirements engineering for machine learning and business intelligence projects
• ML in Production - from models to products that are monitored and updated
• Advanced ML topics, e.g., AutoML, Time series analysis
• Distributed and parallel computing for machine learning and data processing with a focus on Spark

In their Master’s Thesis, students use scientific methods to answer a research question and work in accordance with standards of scientific writing. The master’s thesis is typically related to one of the four subject areas that constitute the core of the curriculum (i.e., Business Process Management, Data and Application Security, Data Science, and Digital Innovation).

• The thesis is assessed by a faculty member from the Institute of Information Systems (professor, assistant professor, visiting professor or senior lecturer).
• The thesis is presented and defended in an oral examination. The examination committee is composed of the Academic Director, another faculty member, and an external expert appointed by the Vice-Rector for Teaching.
• The time for producing the completed thesis is defined on the thesis proposal (“exposé”) and may not exceed 22 weeks.

After successful submission of the master’s thesis, students will have demonstrated their ability to plan, execute, and manage research projects autonomously.

• Exposé: The seminar paper that is developed in the Research Seminar module serves as an exposé for the master’s thesis if the student has passed the Research Seminar module and if the student has not submitted another exposé signed by the supervisor to the study administration (master.information-systems@uni.li) by the same deadline as for the Module Research Seminar.
• Regulations and forms: Students must adhere to the Guidelines for Writing Academic Papers in Economics and are asked to use the university’s official Template for writing their master’s theses. In addition, students must carefully review the Study and Assessment Regulations and Master Thesis Assessment Criteria. All documents are available on the university’s intranet (“Regulations and Forms”).
• Submission: The completed master’s thesis must be submitted by 30 June (summer semester) or 30 November (winter semester). Students must upload their completed theses as pdf documents to Moodle.
• Presentation and Defence: The master’s thesis must have been evaluated with a grade of 3.8 or higher to attend the Presentation and Defence course. A detailed schedule will be announced via Moodle and/or via e-mail. Students have 20 minutes to present their theses, another 15 minutes is for discussion. Apart from subject knowledge, grading criteria are presentation structure (information flow, line of argument etc.), design (formatting, figures, animations etc.), mechanics (grammar, typos, citation etc.), appearance (eye contact, gestures etc.), and elocution (language, clarity, rhetoric etc.).

Sustainable Design Unit:
In this module, you will engage in a detailed analysis of a sustainability indicator such as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), or building standards like LEED or DGNB. You will explore how these indicators can be integrated into a sustainability matrix. The scope and complexity of your research, as well as its relevance to architectural inquiries, will determine the workload, which will be agreed upon in consultation with your supervisor. Your interests and prior knowledge will be taken into consideration at the outset of the project. This elective module provides an opportunity to engage in research focused on defining sustainable building practices within the Alpine Rhine Valley. In alignment with ongoing research at the LSA, the module is centered on the development of a comprehensive catalogue of themes related to sustainable construction. Through comparative analyses of building labels and broader sustainability frameworks, you will examine how these themes can guide sustainable architectural practices in the region. This module presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the academic discourse on sustainability and to shape future building practices. Participants will conduct self-directed research working either individually or in collaborative groups. The scope of your work will be customized to align with the specific requirements of your project and will be overseen by the research unit. Essential literature and resources will be provided at the start of the course, with continual updates throughout the semester to support your research on sustainability in architecture.

Im Grundlagenstudio – Entwerfen im kulturellen Kontext werden Grundlagen des architektonischen Entwerfens im kulturellen Kontext vermittelt. Im Verlauf des Semesters werden anhand von Analyse- und Entwurfsaufgaben architektonische Fragestellungen und Bautypologien in Bezug auf den kulturellen Kontext der Disziplin bearbeitet.
Grundlegende Kenntnisse von Bauelementen und Bautypologien sowie deren Beitrag zur Disziplin innerhalb des kulturellen Kontexts werden erforscht, weiterentwickelt und vermittelt. Dabei dient das Bauerbe als wertvolle, materielle und immaterielle Basis für das Bauen mit den aktuellen und zukünftigen Herausforderungen für eine
resiliente Gesellschaft.

The aim of this seminar is to strengthen communication and presentation techniques. Through interviews, students will develop diverse content, which will be documented and presented using various applied exercises and methods as well as project representations.

The seminar includes interactive exercises to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical design, presentation and analytical skills. Case studies and projects are used to discuss seminar content and train students in the use of the methods and techniques covered.
