This module, optionally to be undertaken in the third semester, serves as a basis for an individual Master’s Thesis, if successfully completed with a minimum grade of 5.0. The sustainable operation within a self-chosen area is critically analysed and applied. It contains a research question, an in-depth theoretical investigation as well as a conceptual outline for a Theoretical Report and a Technical Report. In the Preliminary Study the supervision consists of directing the preparation of the thesis proposal and the research design as well as the development of the student’s clear conceptual position. The Preliminary Study needs to be completed at the University of Liechtenstein and is reviewed before a panel of experts of the related research unit.

Die interdisziplinare Kommunikation in der Architektur basiert zur Vermeidung von Fehlinterpretationen und Missverständnissen auf objektiven Darstellungsregeln und perfektionierten Vermittlungsmethoden. Im Modul Werkzeuge und Methoden 4 wird den Studierenden die Klarheit in der Vermittlung von Material, Form und Gestalt sowie die zeitliche und technische Organisation von Informationsflüssen in der Projektrealisierung vermittelt.

Die Lernergebnisse und zu erwerbenden Kompetenzen dieses Moduls ergeben sich aus den nachfolgend beschriebenen Lehrveranstaltungen.

Die Abschlussnote wird errechnet aus den Noten der beiden Lehrveranstaltungen mit einer Gewichtung von jeweils 50%. Ein erfolgreicher Abschluss setzt zudem voraus, dass in beiden Lehrveranstaltungen jeweils mindestens die Note 4.0 erreicht wurde. Modalität siehe Lehrveranstaltung.

This optional module allows for various kinds of research studies. It is closely connected to the five units of the Liechtenstein School of Architecture and is usually part of ongoing research projects. The supervision consists of directing the students towards clear results within a given field of research. The individual study is reviewed within the respective unit.

Built Heritage & Upcycling Unit:
Whenever there was a shortage of building materials in history, creativity was called for and a circular approach was often the answer. In the 16th century, the Frenchman Philibert de l'Orme invented a new construction method, known as "à petit bois", in which large roof surfaces were built from small pieces of wood. Instead of comprehensive designs, his architectural work was characterized by adapting, integrating and building on. We examine de l'Orme's circular approaches using the example of the roof truss of the Caserne Rochambeau in Mont-Dauphin (F). Could this method be one of the earliest concepts for planned circular building solutions?

Self-defined design or research studies, developed individually or in groups agreed upon with research units and under the guidance of mentors. The size of the module is determined by the respective unit.

Im Rahmen des vierten Moduls werden den Studierenden die wichtigsten Wirtschaftsstrafbestimmungen im Nebenstrafrecht vorgestellt. Sie erwerben profunde Kenntnisse im Steuer- und Zollstrafrecht, im Bilanz- und Kapitalmarktstrafrecht sowie über Bestimmungen zum strafrechtlichen Schutz von Geheimnissen und zu internationalen Sanktionen. Die Erläuterung der Delikte erfolgt praxisnah und wissenschaftlich fundiert anhand aktueller Judikatur und Lehrmeinungen. Aufgrund der starken Akzessorietät dieser Delikte wird den Studierenden auch ein Grundlagenwissen in den zugrundeliegenden Bereichen des Steuer- und Zollrechts, der Rechnungslegung sowie des Kapitalmarktrechts vermittelt. Auf diese Weise erhalten sie einen umfassenden Einblick in diese komplexe Strafrechtsmaterie. Anhand praxisnaher Übungsfälle wird das erworbene Wissen vertieft und unmittelbar in die Praxis übertragen.

Die Studierenden erwerben die Fachkompetenz, zentrale Wirtschaftsstraftaten im Nebenstrafrecht – insbesondere im Steuer- und Zollstrafrecht, Bilanz- und Kapitalmarktstrafrecht sowie im strafrechtlichen Schutz von Geschäftsgeheimnissen und internationalen Sanktionen – zu analysieren und anzuwenden. The research proposal is a research plan. The contents of the research proposal are governed by the curricula of the doctoral degree programmes. If a cumulative dissertation is intended, it is necessary to mention the publication journals and the number of publications planned. The formal aspects of the research proposal must comply with the "Guidelines for Writing Academic Papers at the University of Liechtenstein".

In the colloquium on the research proposal, the doctoral student shall present his/her dissertation project and provide reasons for his/her chosen approach.

The grade for the research proposal will be determined by taking the average of the grades given by the supervisor and the co-supervisor.
