129 diplomas, seven doctorates and ten awards
On 26 September 2025, the University of Liechtenstein awarded seven doctoral degrees and presented diplomas to 129 graduates. Ten of them received awards for outstanding achievements.
Dr Christian Frommelt, Rector of the University of Liechtenstein, and the programme directors awarded the graduates their academic degrees in architecture, economics and continuing education. Associate Professor Sebastian Stöckl, Academic Director of the Undergraduate and Graduate School, presided over the ceremony.
Michelle Kranz, Managing Director of the Hilty Family Foundation, encouraged the bachelor's degree graduates in her speech: "You don't know today where you will be tomorrow. And that's great. Because the best stories don't start with a finished plan, but with the willingness to try something new."

Outstanding achievements
Ten graduates were awarded prizes by Liechtenstein companies and associations for their outstanding achievements.
Prizes for economics
As in previous years, the Martin Hilti Foundation for International Career Development awarded prizes for the most innovative dissertations from bachelor's and master's degree programmes in economics.
The award for the bachelor's degree programme in business administration was presented to Jonas Ave.
The prize in the Master's programme category went to Matthias Frohner (Master's programme in Business Informatics).
The Liechtenstein Bankers Association (LBA) honoured the best average grades across all modules in the Bachelor's programme in Business Administration with a specialisation in Financial Services (IFS) and in the Master's programme in Finance. The award for the Bachelor's programme went to Elif Yamikan.
The LBV also recognises outstanding academic and practice-oriented theses. The award for the Bachelor's programme was presented to Vanja Idzanovic.
In the Master's programme, the award was presented to Andreas Stefan Maria Pischetsrieder and Eric Schumann.
The LBV also recognises outstanding scientific and practice-oriented theses. In the Master's programme, Aziza Ouali received this award.
Awards in architecture
The LIA, the Liechtenstein Association of Engineers and Architects, traditionally honours the best graduates of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in architecture.
The award for the Bachelor's degree programme went to Sabrina Pfiffner.
Lion Maul received the award in the master's programme.
Doctorates in economics
At this year's graduation ceremony, seven students from the field of economics were awarded doctoral degrees:
• Merlin Bartel received his doctoral degree with summa cum laude honours for his dissertation ‘Machine Learning in Financial Economics: An Investment Perspective’; his supervisor was Associate Professor Sebastian Stöckl.
• Jonas Bokstaller received his doctorate with summa cum laude honours for his dissertation ‘Battery Health Platform: A platform for tracking, predicting, and maintaining the health of batteries powering IoT devices.’ His supervisor was Prof. Dr. Johannes Schneider.
• Sophie Hartl obtained her doctorate with summa cum laude honours for her dissertation entitled ‘Explaining and Understanding Organisational Dynamics Using Digital Trace Data’; her supervisor was Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke.
• Gregor Kipping received his doctorate with summa cum laude honours for his dissertation ‘Advancing Process Science – Leveraging Multiple Sources of Data in Business Process Management,’ supervised by Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke.
• Daniel Knapp received his doctorate with summa cum laude honours for his dissertation ‘Driving Sustainability with Purpose: Unraveling the Role of Influencing Factors in Advancing Innovation Efficiency,’ supervised by Prof. Dr. Leo Brecht.
• Saskia Laura Schröer obtained her doctorate (Dr. sc.) with the distinction magna cum laude for her dissertation ‘Hacker and AI: Investigating Hacker's Technical Innovation Through the Lens of Cyber Threat Intelligence and Natural Language Processing’, supervised by Prof. Dr. Pavel Laskov.
