Process of an Appointment Procedure
We conduct appointment procedures for filling professorships according to clearly defined and transparent processes. The goal is to attract outstanding individuals for research, teaching and knowledge transfer.
The process begins with a thorough needs analysis by the Rectorate and a decision by the University's Council. A selection committee is then established, consisting of internal and external members. This committee assesses the applications received using clear criteria, such as academic excellence, teaching experience, success in securing external funding, leadership skills and commitment to supporting early-career researchers.
Suitable candidates are invited to deliver a public presentation. This is followed by an interview with the selection committee. In addition, external reviews may be obtained to evaluate academic achievements. The committee then prepares a prioritised shortlist, which is submitted to the University Council for a final decision. Once successful contract negotiations have been concluded with the proposed candidate, the appointment procedure is complete.
