We will support you from the very beginning and provide you with all the important information you need to start your studies. Here you will find everything you need to know about the Welcome Days, entry, accommodation and much more to make your start at the University of Liechtenstein as smooth as possible.

Welcome to the University of Liechtenstein, here you will find everything you need in our checklist so that you can get off to a safe and relaxed start.

Arrival
Your trip is organized, whether by plane, train, or car, you know how to get to Liechtenstein.
Don’t forget to fill out the Arrival Guide we sent you by email.

 

Organizational Matters
Your visa has been applied for and you’ve already received it.
Your semester fees are paid.
Your accommodation is arranged.

You’ll find detailed information on Housing and Residence.

 

User Account (IT Services)
Your username and your password will be transmitted to you digitally; alternatively, once everything is ready you will receive an email containing all relevant information. Follow the instructions at uni.li/first-steps. There you will find information on how to activate your user account (including Multi Factor Authentication) and how to change your password. We recommend that you complete the steps described there before the Welcome Day or immediately after the email notification; please allow yourself time and read everything carefully. Also consult our knowledge base (wiki.uni.li), where you will find a wide range of guides and instructions.

 

Welcome Days – What You Should Bring
– Your passport or ID card for registration
– A certified copy of your graduation diploma
– Your uni.li login code and, if necessary, cash for parking
– Your laptop and headphones so you're fully equipped

You’ll soon receive an invitation to our WhatsApp group “Unicommunity Unili,” where you can connect with other students.
Register for interdisciplinary elective modules.
Check your emails and this page regularly for updates before your studies begin—this page is continuously updated.

Getting to the University of Liechtenstein

The campus is located above Vaduz on the site of the former "Spörry" cotton mill and is easily accessible by both public and private transport.

Arrival by Plane

The nearest international airport is Zurich (approx. 115 km, Switzerland).
Regional airports are located in:

  • St. Gallen-Altenrhein (approx. 40 km, Switzerland)
  • Friedrichshafen (approx. 80 km, Germany)
  • Innsbruck (approx. 200 km, Austria)

These airports offer connections to major international hubs like Frankfurt, Berlin, and Vienna, as well as other European cities.

Arrival by Train

EuroCity (EC), Intercity (IC), and regional trains operated by the Swiss and Austrian Federal Railways stop at stations near the Liechtenstein border:

  • Buchs (Switzerland)
  • Sargans (Switzerland)
  • Feldkirch (Austria)
  • Schaan (Liechtenstein)

Travel information and tickets are available via:

Arrival by Bus

LIEmobil offers regular bus services from the train stations in Buchs, Sargans, Schaan, and Feldkirch to the University of Liechtenstein. The closest stop is “Ebenholz/Universität,” about a 3–5-minute uphill walk from campus.

  • Single tickets: available directly from the bus driver
  • Other tickets: available at post offices or online

Estimated travel times from stations:

  • Buchs – Vaduz (Ebenholz/Universität): approx. 20 minutes
  • Sargans – Vaduz (Ebenholz/Universität): approx. 40 minutes
  • Feldkirch – Vaduz (Ebenholz/Universität): approx. 30 minutes

Note:
Vaduz has a free local bus service running daily from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The university stop is called “Spörry”.

Welcome Service:
At the Welcome Weekend, our Welcome Guides will be happy to pick you up at the “Ebenholz/Universität” bus stop. Please provide your arrival details in advance.

Arrival by Car

From Schaan, drive towards Vaduz on the main road. After passing the Mühleholzmarkt shopping center and crossing the bridge into Vaduz, turn left onto Fürst-Franz-Josef-Strasse towards Vaduz Castle. After about 500 meters, the campus will be on your left. Follow the signs to the parking areas.

Approximate driving times:

  • From St. Gallen (via A13): approx. 45 minutes
  • From Zurich (via A3 to Sargans, then A13): approx. 1 hour 15 minutes
  • From Munich (via A96 and A14 in Austria): approx. 2.5 hours
  • From Innsbruck (via A12, S16, and A14): approx. 2.5 hours
