Housing and Residence in Liechtenstein

If you wish to move your place of residence to Liechtenstein for your studies, you will need a short-term residence permit. This is a mandatory requirement. Of course, EEA/EU citizens are free to take up residence in Switzerland or Austria instead. However, please note that we are unfortunately unable to provide support with administrative procedures or formalities in those countries.

Students from most third countries are required to obtain a visa to enter Liechtenstein. The University of Liechtenstein provides a guarantee in the form of a bank bond. In return, students must pay a deposit of CHF 3,000 to the University of Liechtenstein. This amount serves as a security and will only be refunded upon completion of the degree programme.

You must register with the competent municipal authority within 14 days of your arrival.
