Impact of Board Effectiveness on CSR and Firm Risk
Project Description
The research project at hand sets a focus on the role of board effectives on a firm's corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy and firm risk. As such, it contributes to the literature on corporate governance and CSR with respect to firm performance. We build on a unique dataset from Canada called "Board Shareholder Confidence Index (BSCI)". The index was introduced by the Clarkson Centre of Board Effectiveness and Business Ethics (CC(BE)2), which is closely related to the renowned Rotman School of Management located in Toronto, and emerged out of the burst of the IT bubble and corporate scandals - such as ENRON (2001) and WORLDCOM (2002).
