Liechtensteins financial market law

Project Description

The Liechtenstein financial centre is highly regulated by international standards. Despite the eminent economic importance of this field of law, there has been no systematic analysis of it to date. The timing seems favourable, as Liechtenstein's financial market law was fundamentally reorganised and fully harmonised with EEA law on 1 February 2025. The research project therefore aims to provide the first comprehensive overview of Liechtenstein's financial market law.

Relevance to Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein's success shows that the law is an import factor in global competition. Attractive legal conditions attract service providers and capital. For instance, the implementation of European financial market regulation via the European Economic Area secures Liechtenstein providers access to the European market. In addition to the legal basis, scientific understanding of the legal system also contributes to legal certainty. This research project aims to contribute to the scientific understanding of Liechtenstein financial market law.
