The Thematic Lab for Mathematics and Statistics (LMS) is a collaboration between the Palmary Foundation and the University of Liechtenstein. The partnership aims specifically to strengthen university teaching in these fields, support young researchers and establish a point of contact available to both students and academic staff for subject-related questions. This is intended to sustainably strengthen the Mathematics and Statistics division at the University of Liechtenstein, which, given the university’s key role for the science location Liechtenstein, is also expected to have a positive impact on the activities of other actors in this field. The thematic lab is hosted by the Professorship for Innovative and Digital Finance and is operationally led by Dr. Wolfgang Schadner.

Quantitative skills are indispensable for both academia and practice. With the Thematic Lab for Mathematics and Statistics, we respond to the increasing demand for methodological expertise, support young researchers, expand personnel resources and create a permanent point of contact for students and academic staff. This sustainably develops the subject area and further strengthens the University of Liechtenstein as a centre of knowledge.

The lab’s work includes strategically strengthening the Mathematics and Statistics division by increasing personnel resources and enhancing coordination of teaching content across quantitative subjects. It provides a central point of contact open to students and academic staff for subject-related questions. Each year, the lab awards the best theses and research papers with a mathematical or statistical focus. It also participates in public university events to further raise the visibility of its academic priorities.
