Experimental Learning at the Liechtenstein School of Architecture
In the Advanced Studio “Built Heritage & Upcycling”, under the guidance of Prof. Dr Daniel Stockhammer and Nina Beck, Bachelor’s and Master’s students from the Liechtenstein School of Architecture are exploring, as part of their design for a new Liechtenstein Ski Museum, the reuse and further repurposing of decommissioned ski lifts from the region.
To illustrate fundamental principles of structural engineering, the students, supervised by lecturer Martin Walch, constructed and tested load-bearing structures made from spaghetti. Exercises of this kind deepen their understanding of basic structural concepts and highlight their significance for architectural practice.
