Monika Tholen, ZSTHW Alumni
Even after studying the first modules of the Certificate Program in Fiduciary Services at the University of Liechtenstein, I quickly realized: this program offers an interdisciplinary foundation, combining core principles from business administration, law, taxation, wealth management, and investment advisory in a structured and interconnected way. For me, the Certificate in Fiduciary Services is a valuable continuing education program—highly relevant for daily professional practice, even in roles that deal with company-related matters involving Liechtenstein-specific regulations. The professional guidance and the supportive, family-like environment make studying here an enjoyable experience."
Monika Tholen, Graduate

Module Overview

The programme is structured in modules and comprises around 340 contact lessons. A brief overview of the contents of the individual modules:

Module 1 – Business Administration
In the first module, participants acquire professional skills in business accounting and are trained to manage the bookkeeping for commercially active clients with both national and international operations. In addition, participants learn to identify and resolve specific valuation and booking issues. They also gain the ability to prepare balance sheets for sole proprietorships, corporate entities, and consolidated groups.

Another goal is to develop the ability to handle over-indebtedness situations in order to respond and make decisions appropriately in critical cases. Furthermore, alongside expertise in the areas of financing and controlling, participants acquire knowledge for determining and interpreting balance sheet ratios. Also included in the first module is the acquisition of know-how necessary to perform auditing and statutory audit functions.

The University of Liechtenstein awards the qualification of Liechtenstein Certified Fiduciary Expert

The certificate programme prepares participants for qualified activities in fiduciary companies and provides practice-oriented subject matter required for the competent management of client mandates. Graduates possess proven professional qualifications for the comprehensive care and management of client relationships in the Liechtenstein fiduciary sector.

The certificate programme and examination level are designed—together with the Diploma Programme in Fiduciary Services—as preparation for the Liechtenstein trustee examination. Admission to the trustee examination is governed by Art. 3 of the Trustee Examination Ordinance (TrHPV) of 3 December 2013 in conjunction with Art. 7 of the Trustee Act (TrHG) of 8 November 2013.

For participants without an academic background, successful completion of both the certificate and diploma programmes constitutes proof of training within the meaning of Art. 7 lit. b) TrHG. The examination level of the programmes is therefore aligned with the requirements of the trustee examination.

If you do not intend to take the trustee examination, please feel free to contact us for a personal study consultation.

The lecturers, both from the University of Liechtenstein and from practice, are recognised experts in their fields. You will benefit from the knowledge and experience of professors and academic staff as well as from employees of the Liechtenstein national administration and the Liechtenstein Association of Trustees, members of the examination board for trustees, and employees of fiduciary companies, law firms, consulting firms, banks, and insurance companies.
