Project Description
Ruggell is a small municipality in the Principality of Liechtenstein that, like many other small agricultural communities, originally developed along a village street, with the church and the mayor's office in the center. However, in contrast to many other agricultural villages, Ruggell is experiencing significant growth and is undergoing a dynamic similar to that of small global cities. The development of monofunctional business districts, the relocation of public infrastructure to the periphery and the loss of vitality in the historic center characterise the change. This development raises important questions about the future balance between urban development and historical identity. The studio is held in collaboration with the municipality of Ruggell to develop new strategies for densification and revitalisation of the village center.
