Project Description
Das nachhaltige Agieren innerhalb der historischen Baukultur wird kritisch analysiert und Lehren für die zeitgenössische Architektur und Baukonstruktion werden entwickelt. Das Essential-Modul gibt einen Überblick über die Geschichte der Architektur und Kunst der erweiterten Moderne sowie über die für den Erhalt relevanten Methoden und Techniken.
Anhand ausgewählter Beispiele werden Aufgaben und Problemstellungen in der Architekturgeschichte intensiv diskutiert und die Genese des sich wandelnden ArchitektInnenberufs wird analysiert. Die behandelten Bauten und Objekte versinnbildlichen den Bestand, der unser Erbe ist. Denkmaltheoretisches Grundlagenwissen wird zusammen mit Strategien und Methoden der Erhaltung und Weiterentwicklung des Baubestandes vermittelt.

Assessment Methods
Die Abschlussnote wird errechnet aus den Noten der beiden Lehrveranstaltungen mit einer Gewichtung von jeweils 50%. Ein erfolgreicher Abschluss setzt zudemvoraus, dass in beiden Lehrveranstaltungen jeweils mindestens die Note 4.0 erreicht wurde. Modalität siehe Lehrveranstaltung.

Project Description
To support the holistic educational aim of artistic and technically skilled graduates, this report unites technical disciplines embedded in the curriculum into a compulsory document/ report.
It is coordinated with the lecturers of the technical subjects that are supporting it by iterative consultations. Intensive research, experiments on material or processing level, simulations, cooperation with industries, innovative interpretation of taught content and tools, are just some examples how students prove their technical skills applied to the design process of their individual project.

Project Description
This optional module allows for various kinds of research studies. It is closely connected to the five units of the Liechtenstein School of Architecture and is usually part of ongoing research projects. The supervision consists of directing the students towards clear results within a given field of research. The individual study is reviewed within the respective unit.

Urbanism, Architecture & Society Unit (UASU) is happy to support independent study projects utilizing our methods and approaches, either (1) pursuing questions relevant to our group, or (2) supporting you in finding your own research questions. We can provide topics for independent study related to our research areas in the Alpine Rhine Valley, as well as various locations across the Global South.
We also encourage aligning independent study projects with our other concurrent courses including: Raum & Gesellschaft, Studio Jozi, Urban Theory, Planning & Places, Architectural Theory, or Pro Bono.

Project Description
Im Grundlagenstudio – Entwerfen im räumlichen Kontext werden Grundlagen des architektonischen Entwerfens im räumlichen Kontext vermittelt. Im Verlauf des Semesters werden anhand von Analyse- und Entwurfsaufgaben architektonische Fragestellungen im räumlichen Kontext mehrerer Gebäude bearbeitet. Die Studierenden erhalten
grundlegende Kenntnisse über Raumbezüge zwischen Gebäuden, über den Umgang mit Privatheit und Öffentlichkeit, über verschiedenen Formen von Dichte, über Aufenthalts- und Lebensqualitäten, über die Anordnung gemischter Raumprogramme und deren Wechselwirkungen sowie über Freiraumqualitäten und den Bezug auf einen grösseren urbanen Kontext.

Project Description
The Master's Thesis is carried out by the student as part of an Advanced Studio and is supervised by the unit. The thesis contains a developed hypothesis that is verified (or falsified) as part of the design project. In addition to the actual design project, the Master's thesis includes the design and production of the thesis book. This consists of
three parts: the documentation of the design project, a theoretical report and a technical report. The formal aspects of the thesis and the thesis book are described in the Master's thesis regulations.

Project Description
This optional module, allows for various kinds of research studies in collaboration with planned or ongoing research projects. It is closely linked to the five units of the School of Architecture and is undertaken individually or in small teams of students. Supervision consists of guiding students towards clear results in a particular area of research. The research project is reviewed before a panel of experts from the supervising research unit.

What is Fluidglass? Fluidglass represents a pioneering innovation in building technology that transforms windows into intelligent, multifunctional elements of construction. These advanced windows not only permit the passage of light but also possess the capability to store and regulate energy. By utilizing a specialized fluid enclosed within the glass that dynamically responds to temperature variations, Fluidglass significantly enhances the energy efficiency and thermal comfort of buildings. In this module, you will gain comprehensive insights into product development within the construction industry and the contemporary innovation processes that drive such advancements. Your participation will encompass a range of activities, including conducting research, performing simulations, and developing both a business model and a go-to-market strategy. The specific scope of your work will be tailored to your expertise and interests during an initial meeting session. In collaboration with the LBS Innovation Unit, this research semester presents a unique opportunity to investigate sustainable construction through the lens of practical product development.
