For me, sustainability begins with the choice of materials and their structural composition in built architecture. Our ancestors knew how to build using locally available materials and centuries-old craftsmanship. In doing so, they created a natural symbiosis between sustainable construction and cultural identity — one that continues to shape regional character and gives rise to diverse building traditions to this day."

Sustainability in Research and Knowledge Transfer

The University of Liechtenstein understands sustainability as an interdisciplinary research focus. Ecological, social and economic issues are approached holistically. Key topics include sustainable construction, future-oriented financial models, tax incentives for sustainable business practices and the design of resilient cities.

Through practice-oriented research, strong partnerships and a clear focus on societal impact, the university develops solutions that contribute to sustainable transformation.
