Die Veranstaltung dient dazu, die Studierenden mit den grundlegenden makroökonomischen Zusammenhängen und Gesetzmässigkeiten in Volkswirtschaften vertraut zu machen. Es geht darum, gesamtwirtschaftliche Entwicklungen zu beschreiben und gewisse gesamtwirtschaftliche Beziehungen zu erklären. Ein internationaler Vergleich kann hierbei Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten in der Entwicklung von Volkswirtschaften herausarbeiten. Darüber hinaus sollen die Studierenden sensibilisiert werden für aktuelle wirtschaftspolitische Probleme, eine Herausforderung stellt die Finanz- und Wirtschaftskrise 2008/2009 und die Auswirkungen bis in die jüngste Zeit.

After completion of the module, the students have at their disposal comprehensive knowledge in the specialised area of investment banking, so that they are readily able to integrate theoretical knowledge of financial markets and relate various views to each other. They understand how both subject areas are connected and are able to mirror the current state of research.
Furthermore, they conduct research projects within a specified framework, while applying advanced investigative techniques. Thus they identify and define new and abstract problems and develop appropriate solutions for it. Their detailed solutions that were developed together with colleagues as well as peers, are presented to an audience of experts.

After completion of the module, the students are acquainted with the distinct features and the concepts of the banking business in dealing with private as well as commercial customers. Additionally, they master special marketing strategies for banks and understand the special aspects of product management in banks.
Furthermore, they are able to apply a range of current techniques and skills in order to solve problems in practice (e.g.: classification of a customer according to the CRM model). They are also able to critically scrutinise concepts and methods and, according to the situation, to choose the appropriate procedure for solving practical problems.
